UFC contender Ian Machado Garry has said he is no longer allowed to train at Leon Edwards’s gym, after the welterweight champion and his coach expressed concern over “doubts and insecurities” at Team Renegade egame
The unbeaten Machado Garry has trained at various gyms in numerous countries in recent months, but told The Independent that he will not be able to return to Renegade, at the request of Edwards and his coach Dave Lovell egame
The Irishman did, however, stress his appreciation of Ash Begg and Tom Breese, who run Team Renegade egame
“Gym conflict has absolutely been a massive issue recently,” said Machado Garry, who turns 26 in November and faces teammate Vicente Luque in December egame
“Leon Edwards, his head coach asked me not to come back to Renegade; told me I’m not allowed to train there egame
“I have to word this correctly, because I don’t wanna be… Firstly, I wanna put out there that Ash and Tom, who run Renegade… I don’t wanna give any negatives without saying a positive egame
I don’t want any s*** with any gyms egame
The guys at Renegade… it was a great energy egame
Tom and Ash were very welcoming, lovely and nice to me egame
It was nothing to do with them egame
“Leon and his head coach had an issue with me training on the mats and recently have asked me not to train there, because, ‘Leon doesn’t want any insecurities or doubts on his own mats, within the gym,’ which I don’t fully understand egame
“I get that we’re both in the top 10 and you might see me as a threat, but I’m not a threat to you right now; I’m not fighting for the title right now egame
His coach said the words: ‘Ian is a threat, I cannot have Leon having any doubts or insecurities egame
’“That makes me think someone is weak minded and can’t have another contender training on the mat egame
That’s why gym conflict is annoying egame
For me, why not have that other elite guy on the mat? Why not train with him? Why not have him push you? Why not learn and grow from each other?Machado Garry during his dominant win over Neil Magny in August (Getty Images)“It’s very irritating, because I’m a young fighter who wants to be the best in the world, who wants to train with the best in the world, and Renegade is the best gym in the UK egame
I went there to learn from the guys around Birmingham and who have essentially proven that it’s the best gym in the UK; I didn’t go there to train with Leon, I went there to train with that gym, because they’re amazing egame
“Now I’m being stopped from going to a gym, because I might potentially fight Leon in 18 months egame
My attitude is: If that’s the case, why not have this conversation in six months? “I love the guys at Renegade egame
They’re really nice and welcoming, I rang them beforehand to make sure everything was good egame
Then, after the second day I was there, they were like: ‘Oh, we can’t have you back, Leon and some of his team don’t want this egame
’ “So, when we talk about conflict, that’s it egame
There’s a piece for you to write, for sure!”The Independent has contacted Edwards, Lovell and Team Renegade for comment egame
Machado Garry last fought in August, beating Neil Magny via unanimous decision egame
The “Future” is next in action at UFC 296 in December, facing teammate Luque egame
Meanwhile, Edwards last fought in March, outpointing Kamaru Usman to retain the welterweight title that he took from his old rival with a head-kick knockout last August egame
The Birmingham fighter, 32, is due to headline UFC 296, defending his belt against former interim champion Colby Covington egame
Watch UFC 296 live on TNT egame Sports in the UK and Ireland, on Saturday 16 December egame

Head coach Matthew Mott admits England’s calamitous Cricket World Cup campaign could get even worse this weekend, placing India as “raging favourites” to inflict yet another defeat on his side egame
The 2019 champions have blown their title defence in remarkable fashion, losing four of their first five matches in thumping fashion to lie ninth in the table, and things are about to get even tougher in Lucknow egame
The hosts have been in swaggeringly good form, sitting pretty on top of the standings with a 100 per cent record, and carry all the momentum heading into Sunday’s meeting egame
Even at their lowest historical ebbs England have never lost four on the bounce at a World Cup before but even the man in charge of ensuring that does not happen this time accepts the odds are against his team egame
“We play India in a couple of days, the hosts, and they are probably raging favourites at the moment,” he said egame
“But I think that’s an opportunity to restore some pride and confidence in the group egame
Every opportunity we get to play together is vital now to try and find our mojo again egame
It’s obviously too late for this tournament but we need to do that, we’ve got to find a response egame
“We’ve definitely not performed anywhere near the level that we want to in this tournament, but our first priority at the moment is to make sure we come out and give India a good scrap and hopefully perform a lot egame better than we have egame
”Despite knowing they will watching the knockout stages from home, England face the unenviable prospect of collecting even more aimless air miles egame between now and their final game on November 11 egame
And while rallying from the depths of their current position, fractionally above associates the Netherlands, is some motivation, even Mott has acknowledged a potentially grisly post-mortem awaits on the other side egame
Jos Buttler has already reiterated his desire to oversee the next chapter and Mott is equally bullish about his position egame
“There’s no silver bullet for this,” he said egame
“We’re going to have to sit down at the end of this tournament and look ourselves in the eyes and say ‘what can we do a little bit egame better?’ egame
“Jos and I are incredibly aligned and united egame
When you lose tournaments like this, everyone’s under scrutiny, everyone’s place will be questioned egame
“I certainly feel like I could have done things a lot egame better but I’ve been in the job 18 months, we’ve won a World Cup and lost a World Cup egame
I think I’ve shown the capability that I can coach his team egame
“I’ve shown an ability to be able to turn things around so that’ll have to happen pretty quickly, but, yeah, what will be will be egame
”egame Between them, Mott and Buttler must now decide what to do about their team selection, which has been a revolving door since the start of the competition egame
Against Sri Lanka they fielded an entire XI aged 30 or above for the first time ever and came across a group that was demonstrably past its peak egame
Former England seamer Steve Harmison has called for them to pass the torch immediately, picking Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Gus Atkinson and the recently arrived injury replacement Brydon Carse at the expense of older players egame
We're going to have to sit down at the end of this tournament and look ourselves in the eyes and say ‘what can we do a little bit egame better?’England coach Matthew MottBrook is sure to be a cornerstone player in the next four-year cycle and will surely come in to face India, but Mott insists he will not be picking a team purely by birth date egame
“As one of the selectors I never look at age, I look at performance and form and all the things that go into it,” he said egame
“I would say we’ll just try and keep picking our best side for the conditions, as we’ve tried to do all the way through egame
