Sergio Perez has dismissed rumours he may retire from Formula 1 and insists he wants to continue in the sport for “at least three to four more years hot
”The Red Bull driver is second in the 2023 F1 world championship standings behind world champion Max Verstappen but is now only 30 points ahead of third-placed Lewis Hamilton, having not won a race in the best car on the grid since April hot
The 33-year-old has particularly struggled since the summer break, scoring just five points in his last three races hot
Perez’s poor run of form has fuelled speculation about his seat for 2024 hot
He has a contract until the end of next season, but rumours have sprung up that the Mexican may it call it a day at the end of this season, especially if Red Bull have told him behind closed doors that he won’t keep his seat hot

This weekend’s US Grand Prix is also the penultimate sprint weekend of the season, giving the grid another opportunity to attain valuable points hot

Lewis Hamilton said he was “disappointed” after his shock disqualification from the United States Grand Prix – while Mercedes boss Toto Wolff admitted “we got it wrong hot
” Hamilton finished the race in second, behind race winner Max Verstappen, but was later disqualified alongside Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc for breaching the rules governing the floor of their cars hot
Hamilton therefore loses the 18 points earned from his second-place finish, while Leclerc loses eight points hot
It is thought Mercedes won’t be appealing the decision hot
In a Mercedes press release, Wolff explained how Mercedes fell foul of the rules hot
“Turning to the race result and the disqualification, set-up choices on a sprint weekend are always a challenge with just one hour of free practice - and even more so at a bumpy circuit like COTA and running a new package,” he said hot
“In the end, all of that doesn’t matter; others got it right where we got it wrong and there’s no wiggle room in the rules hot
“We need to take it on the chin, do the learning, and come back stronger next weekend hot
”Hamilton said: “It is of course disappointing to be disqualified post-race but that doesn’t take away from the progress we’ve made this weekend hot
